FPL 21-22 | GW34 – GW37 : Overall rank gains from 215K to 62K, extremely swingy couple of weeks | Final team for GW38
Last couple of FPL Gameweeks have been exhilarating to say the least, GW35 and 36 alone saw my OR go up by 69% to 65K. I was stuck in a rut between 250K and 200K for almost 7 GWs, although I only saw one red arrow, but since the green arrows were very small I was not able to make big gains. Then in GW35 it was Son (VC) that did the trick for me in absence of KDB (C), which was extremely lucky for me. Then, a successful Bench Boost with KDB (C), Foster, Luis Diaz and Nketiah helped me get 185 (-12) points for the GW, which is absolutely massive. That GW rank of ~5.5K is possibly my best ever. DGW37 Free Hit team was only good enough to consolidate my OR to ~62K, although I was slightly disappointed with how things played out during the gameweek, I am satisfied overall.

This leaves me in a very interesting position, I had written about a target of top 30k at the start of the season and now suddenly it might be doable(still a long shot though), I am ~50 points off top 25k, so making up ~45 points would be tough but with some attacking transfers, you never know. However this comes with the threat of dropping below 100K (which is a significant mental milestone).
With that background I am looking at options for the final GW of the season, and below are my picks for the GW38:
Yoane Wissa – Brentford play lacklustre Leeds on the final day of the season and although Leeds are playing for survival, they still feel like they are going to concede. Leeds have an xGA of 11.08 in last 5 games, highest among all teams and Wissa seems to be in form overall last couple of weeks. Many people might be targeting Ivan Toney, and he is a great shout, but Wissa could be a great differential.
Danny Welback – Brighton have been in great attacking form. They have an xG of 9.87 from last 4 games and Welback has been leading the line very effectively. They play a West Ham team who need a result, so might be open at the back. They also have an xGA of 6.24 in last 4 games, making Welback a cheeky punt.
Heung-Min Son – Captain obvious for this gameweek! Kane is a great shout as well, but Son has been different class over the second half of the season. Spurs must be extremely motivated to get the top 4 spot and play an already relegated Norwich team at home who have an xGA of 11.02, second highest after Leeds.
Sadio Mane – Liverpool know they are in with a shout at the title, and have a well rested first team, I expect them to grab the goals and in style. Mane is expected to play through the center and his form has been cracking off late. Wolves don’t have much to play for and have an xGA of 10.93 in last 5 games. I already own Diaz and don’t think shifting KDB to Mane will be the best move, hence will stick with Diaz, but Mane is the best Liverpool attacker choice for this GW.
Kevin De Bruyne – Fresh off his POYT win and leading the team towards another Premier League title is going to be enough motivation for Manchester City. Add to that the fact that Man City have an xG of 16.29 in the last 5 gameweeks. Everybody is expecting Aston Villa to put in a big fight, hence I might not captain KDB, but I have a feeling City could still grab a 2,3 goals.
Transfers and Captain for GW38
Richarlison + Watkins –> Toney + Welback
Everton secured their safety mid week and I doubt they will have the same hunger for the final game away from home and Watkins is up against Man City defence, who will be difficult to breach, hence taking a couple of punts on Ivan and Danny to see if they can help me make gains in the last gameweek.
As mentioned above, Son is captain obvious and I am sticking with him.

Good luck, green arrows everyone!!
