Over the course of last 3 GWs my overall rank has remained more or less static at around 25 lacs, which is abysmal given the fact that my worst finish ever in an FPL season has been 6 lacs, that too last year. Festive period particularly allows for quick opportunities to make gains, however couple of overambitious decisions have left my stranded at my current rank.

After the success of GW14 after having made three changes to the team, I went in for another 3 changes in GW14’s team for my first -8 of the season. I got in Holgate, Son and Aguero for Chillwell, Mahrez and Kane in my team.

Holgate provided returns in GW15 and Son was a captaincy success in GW17, so these selections have been okay. However the punt on Aguero has turned out really badly for me. Kane has continued his rich vein of Aguero has been restricted to 1 pointers owing to small cameos from bench.

I had a feeling maybe things have finally turned with Pep all but guaranteeing Aguero a start for FA Cup to signal return to full fitness but unfortunately he came in close contact to a Covid positive case and will probably miss out in next 2 GWs. Unfortunate, but a definite signal to take him out of my team.

For GW16 I made just one change transferring out then injured Lamptey for Holding. This turned out to a decent change with Holding providing 19 points in 2 GWs at a value of 4.4M. I hope he continues to start for Arsenal, as they have finally found form and have some decent fixtures.

Couple of fixtures were postponed with teams getting impacted with the new Covid strain in UK. I just managed to score more than the average with no significant change in my overall rank.

GW 17 Summary

GW 17 was decent with Son captaincy call paying off. Good returns from Bruno, Grealish and Holding made it a decent gameweek. I rolled over my free transfer as I was not sure of what change to make and had the idea that it could come in handy for BGW18, specially given the fact that I am not going to use Free Hit for BGW18.

As I continue to try to turn around my FPL season, it seems increasingly difficult to be able to reach my initial goal of finishing inside top 30k and finishing inside 3 lacs is also doubtful. However I am going to keep trying and keep sharing my journey here. With the advent of new year I plan to be more active with my blog, sharing review of the GW and team selection in separate GWs. Here it is to blogging actively in 2021.
