FPL 20:21 | Dud GW20, minor red arrow

Gameweek 20 turned out to be a poor gameweek for me, only consolation is that it could have been much worse. I got 38 points and fell almost a lakh in rank. I am still inside 2M (just), so I definitely need to get a green arrow next gameweek.

GW 20 Summary

GW 20 Points38
GW 20 Rank47.03 lacs
Overall rank after GW 2019.37 lacs
Net Change– 0.89 lacs

Positives

Stones – Stones continues to deliver, with Manchester City keeping another clean sheet. Given the fact that Man City defenders are now regularly involved in attack as well, it might make sense to get another Man City defender in my team, going against my general practice of not more than 1 defender per team

Robert Sanchez – Brighton have kept 2 clean sheets in last 2 GWs and Sanchez has grabbed 13 points, which is a good return for a 4.4M goalkeeper. Last season I stuck with Pope when Burnley were not keeping clean sheets. They eventually went on a run keeping 4 in 5 in middle of season. Is this the start of a similar run for Brighton ? Hopefully.

Antonio – Although Antonio just got a 5 pointer, he has been consistent for the last 3 games and looks threatening. Also with almost no competition for places, he is nailed on and is all set to lead West Ham in their pursuit for a European spot.

Negatives

Wilson – Wilson finally got a return for the first time since GW14, an assist, but Newcastle seem to be lacking creativity and that doesn’t help Wilson’s case for FPL.

Bamford – Bamford has blanked in last 3 GWs and got hooked off at 59th minute mark. Is that a sign that he is not nailed on anymore, or was it just a tactical decision ? Only time will tell, but currently he seems out of form and would be the first name in my team to be transferred but for Wilson whose selling value is 0.4M more.

Near Misses

Gündoğan – As I mentioned in my team post last week, it made all the sense to get him but I wanted to go for a differential in Bernardo Silva, and thought B.Silva got an assist it was no match to Gundo’s 14 pointer.

Kane – One of the potential options I was considering was to get Kane in, but decided to go for a cautious approach not taking a hit and hence decided against it. I averted a potential wasted transfer (that too for a hit!) as Kane picked up an injury.

So, all in all, it was a poor gameweek, but not one which bothers me too much. I have players like Salah and Robertson who could come in good as soon as GW21 (actually I am counting on them to provide returns, as they are playing much better now) and I am well placed to make some decent transfer. On we go towards GW21.

  1. Hello! This is kind of off topic but I need some help from an established blog.
Is it tough to set up your own blog? I’m not very
techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast.
I’m thinking about making my own but I’m not sure where to start.
Do you have any points or suggestions? Thanks
