FPL 20:21 | Team for GW21: Differential Captain time ?

As I started focusing on my team for GW21, the thought clouding my decision was the fact that being cautious is never really going to yield much results, specially when I am languishing around 2M post half way mark this season. There is a small part of my mind telling me to keep calm till at least potential DGW26 and if things are still as bad, then it would be time to go bizarre. So what have I decided to do ? Maybe take a middle path, we will see.

My picks for GW21 (from the players I don’t own)

Digne – Digne is fit again and with Everton moving to a 3 at the back, Digne is starting to look really threatening. With Everton playing at home to a hapless Newcastle, Digne could get both defensive and attacking points in this fixture.

Gündoğan – Gundo featured in this last week as well and unfortunately since I didn’t get him in my team, here he is again. City look ruthless right now and although Sheffield United managed to beat United, I am not sure if they will be able to hold off City and Gundo is right at the heart of City’s gameplay. Reminds me of a certain Yaya Toure.

Havertz – Kai Havertz could be a wild punt for someone looking to catch up in rank (ME!). It seems that he will be deployed centrally under Tuchel, and with the Chelsea team getting a few more training sessions under him, this could be the game when we see the new manager bounce.

Lookman – Fulham are playing against West Brom, who unlike a typical Sam Allardyce team have conceded 22 in last 7, conceding 3 or more goals 5 times. Lookman seems to playing Out Of Position and with his speed and trickery could make full use of a defence low on confidence.

Son – Although Spurs are playing Brighton, who seem to have improved defensively, Son is a season keeper and with Kane out for a little while at the least, he will bear the attacking responsibility for Spurs team looking to bounce back after defeat against Liverpool.

My Transfers

Hueng Min Son is someone who I definitely need to get in my team. He has very high ownership and with Kane out it is bound to increase further. I also feel, with the fixtures easing post GW 24 and DGW on the horizon, it is vital to own him.

So I did Smith-Rowe to Son, leaving me with (-0.7M) in the bank. Wilson was the first name that I wanted to take out from my team and that left me with 5.9M for a forward. As mentioned above, I believe Fulham could grab a couple against West Brom and although I can’t get Lookman (him being a midfielder), I decided to go for Bobby Reid. Plan to play him this week and keep Bamford on bench.

Smith-Rowe + Wilson –> Son + Bobby Reid

Captaincy Pick

I am not able to think of a nailed on captaincy pick for this GW. There are good options in Sterling and Gundo, for those who own them, since I might keep B.Silva as an option.

Salah has been a perennial captaincy pick, and with him starting to show form again, could be a choice against West Ham.

Son against Brighton is a great choice as well, but Brighton have shored up their defence in last couple of weeks.

Maddison could be an option as well – given Leicester play on the counter and Leeds aren’t really set up to defend against counter attacking. But a Vardy less Leicester? Not sure.

I have a weird punt choice for captaincy this week in Holgate. He played at RWB in the last game and as mentioned above, Everton have huge defensive and attacking potential against Newcastle. But Saturday lunch time captain? Maybe I will just go for it, what do I have to lose.

Here is my team:

Best of luck for GW21 everyone!
