FPL 20:21 | GW21 & GW22 Review: Baby steps to the top
At start of GW20 my overall rank was 19.37 lacs, over last two game weeks I have clawed it back a little to 14.99 lacs now and my mini target to be under 1 Mil by end of GW26 is well on!
GW 21 Summary
GW 21 Points | 76 |
GW 21 Rank | 4.36 lacs |
Overall rank after GW 21 | 15.98 lacs |
Net Change | +3.39 lacs |

I went for a maverick move in captaining Holgate and had he not been rested for the game against Newcastle it would have turned out really badly for me, instead I had vice captain on Salah, who produced a 15 point haul to take me to 76 (-4) points for the gameweek.
Luck indeed is a huge elements of FPL, but all you can do is plan, analyse, decide and hope for the best!
Punt on Bobby Reid also yielded 7 points and although that was good, but had I not made any transfers, Wilson and Bamford points would have meant 25+ swing for me in the GW, but not everything can go your way, so all in all it was a good GW for me.
GW 22 Summary
GW 22 Points | 75 |
GW 22 Rank | 16.48 lacs |
Overall rank after GW 22 | 14.99 lacs |
Net Change | +0.99 lacs |

For GW 22, I decided to roll the transfer as I did not see a clear cut transfer opportunity and given how this season has been, any opportunity to hold an extra free transfer can be helpful.
In continuation to my differential captain picking streak, I went with Antonio as captain against Aston Villa. West Ham had the 4th best xG since the turn of this year and Aston Villa had third worst xGA, and with Antonio at the heart of all attacking moves for West Ham, seemed like a decent punt (ahead of Bruno, who was the captaincy pick entire week and Salah, who had hauled last GW and ended up being my VC, thanks to heroics as VC in last GW). And Antonio provided a decent return of 8 points and also almost grabbed a goal as well, only for Mings to make a sliding save.
A key reason for a decent score in GW22 were the play making abilities of players in my team – they accumulated 8 assists in total this GW and a solitary goal, penalty by Bruno.
As I review my team’s performance in GW22, I can’t overlook Sanchez who got his 4th clean sheet in a row, taking the total to 28 points in those 4 GWs. It seems Graham Potter’s decision to get rid of Matt Ryan was indeed a masterclass and I just went with the same change in my FPL team.
There are few weak spots in my team as well, namely Robertson, Konsa and Son. Liverpool and Aston Villa are not keeping a lot of clean sheets lately and neither are Robertson and Konsa contributing much in attack, makes me wonder how to tackle this going ahead. Son, who I brought in as a shield pick is not yielding any results, but maybe selling him before game against WBA is not the best idea.
Let’s see how this pans out as I aim to continue my stride towards 1M by GW26.
Cheers!
