FPL 20:21 | GW26 – GW27 Review: Reaching top 1 million & missing deadlines
I reached sub 2M rank for the first time this season after an amazing GW19 and had set a mini target for myself to be ranked sub 1M by GW26, while that didn’t exactly happen but I was very close and finally managed a small green arrow in DGW26 to finally reach top 1M. Having achieved that, I had hoped to build on it by talking calculated risks for DGW27 and planned a -8. And this happened…
…more on this in GW27 summary below.
GW 26
GW 26 Points | 97 |
GW 26 Rank | 8.64 lacs |
Overall rank after GW 26 | 9.86 lacs |
Net Change | – 0.98 lacs |

I made 3 transfers and played the bench boost chip in DGW26 with the idea of having 29 effective players for the gameweek. The target for the GW was to get a minimum of 100 points based on this logic highlighted below …
But things didn’t quite work to plan with Evans, Barnes getting injured in the first game itself, Aina being subbed at 45 minute mark in first game where Fulham kept a clean sheet, Jorginho missing out in the first game, Stones missing out in the second and obviously double blank from captain Bruno.
Defenders helped me get a decent score in the gameweek though, with Martinez and Rüdiger getting 12 points each, Holgate 11 and Stones 10.
GW27
GW 27 Points | 76 |
GW 27 Rank | 17.22 lacs |
Overall rank after GW 27 | 9.06 lacs |
Net Change | – 0.80 lacs |

So the -8 I had planned for GW27 turned into a -4 for GW28 and the transfer I made were as follows:

Forster – 6 | Ederson – 4
Cancelo – 1 | Aina – 6 (I would have benched Aina, if I had made the change in time)
JWP – 18 | Watkins – 2 (I would have benched Watkins)
Taking in account the -8, it would have meant a 6 point swing for me. However it is not as simple, since I did not make the transfers in time, I had Jorginho as sub 1 on my bench, that wouldn’t have been the case as I would have had Watkins as my sub 1, so thats a +8. All in all, that has not turned that bad.
Kane was definitely the star of the GW for my team with a 19 pointer, with him, Bale and Son clicking, Kane now feels like a must own again, probably with another Spurs attacking asset. Thankfully I have the Free Hit for GW29, I will probably get all three of them.
Bruno getting a solid 10 pointer would have helped gain rank as well with a lot of FPL managers selling/benching him. I generally pick a few high priced players who are guaranteed to deliver in every 2 – 3 matches and hence never had the plan to sell Bruno (or Salah for that matter, but I am starting to rethink that) and that payed dividends this GW.
Gündogan picking up 20 points as my captain was a big positive as well with captaincy returns, obviously I had higher hopes from a Man City captaincy pick in a double gameweek, but it isn’t a bad return.
With the tragedy of missing deadline in GW27 and my transfers applying for GW28, I don’t have a lot of decision making to do this week. Now I turn my head towards planning for GW29 with a free hit in all likelihood. Hope that goes well.
Cheers!
